  1. Hi,

I'm having a problem playing a DVD back on my computer after the burning process is complete. Here is my process...

    System:
    P4 2.4 ghz
    1 gig RAM
    ATI 9600XT Video

    1. Use DVD Santa to encode and burn avi file (usually around 800mb in size)

    2. Burn to Plextor PX-716A at 4X speed NTSC, 16 x9 with DVD Santa
(I am using FujiFilm DVD-R discs)

After burn is complete, I put the "DVD" back in the Plextor drive and close it. It takes nearly 10 minutes for the computer to recognize the DVD in the drive. During the 10 minutes, the drive keeps slowly spinning on and off and the computer is basically rendered useless (almost locks up).

Is this because I'm taking the easy way out and using an all-in-one converter? I read several threads on the conversion process and deceided to use DVD Santa because it is easy. I would be more than willing to use something like TMPGenc Express to encode if it would take care of this problem.

BTW: The DVD's play fine in set top JVC DVD connected to my other TV in another room.

I had a similar problem and searched until I found a solution that worked for me. Some drives only work properly if the disc has 1GB or more, even if the extra data is just garbage data stored in a "personal" folder. Hopefully this will work for you.

    Good Luck!

  3. The disc is normally 4GB or larger after encoding and burning is complete.
