    I have recently purchased a Region 2
Sony home theatre system (DAV-SR2) which has been modified to
    be multi-region.

The person who modified pressed three buttons simultaneously (don't remember which three) on the player itself, then some kind of tehnical menu appeared on screen and then he pressed something (don't know what) on his remote control and some red light blinked for 5 times and the player became multi-regional.

I have watched many R1, R2 and R3 DVDs since then and didn't have any problems so far.
He also accidentaly freed my Sony PQ1 DVD player when trying on SR2.

Could anyone explain what EXACTLY did he do to my player?

How to detect if DVD holds RCE? He said that it will play RCE DVDs, but how can I tell if DVD even has RCE? On PC maybe? I heard of DVDDecrypter. Where can I get this software?

    Any help would be great.

Just get DVD Decrypter (freeware) and when it reads a DVD disc, it will tell you what region codes are allowed, whether the disc is RCE, and what type of copy-protection it has.
