Ok so I have some posters I want to hang, but unlike some teenage kid I want to hang them nicely so that they last.
So why does anything except some crappy walmart frame that is usually messed up from shipping cost more then the average poster? Thats silly!
Anyone have any suggestions?
edit: to be specific I dont' mind paying more for the frame up then the poster but I refuse t pay like $50+ just to frame a generic poster reguardless of how much I like said poster.

I hear ya on this issue man. Frames are rediculous. What kinds of posters are they? They must be pretty special to put into frames huh?

I'm lucky in that my Dad's best friend works for a place that does framing so it costs me zip.

$50 for a poster frame??? Shipping to buy a walmart frame??
Walmarts up here in Ohio have poster frames in the store.
You could always make your own. Go to Lowe's or Home Depot and buy some wood molding, buy some thin plexiglass. -

What I have done , Is go to the local Picture/Paint shop they do it for about 40$, but I also have bought discounted Picture's with the fame size I need and repalce the Picture with My Picture/Poster.
I do this alot I buy lot's of out of print Pictures,Posters, lobby Cards. -
Check out your local craft store like Michels or the Great frame up or whatever you have near you. If their prices are too high you may be screwed. As posted above, I too have seen huge framed so called art for like $10 in the bargin bin. If the frame and poster that you buy is bigger than the poster that you want to frame, just flip the existing poster over so that the white side shows and center your poster on that for a border effect.
I got to tell you that while it would not seem all that hard to make a frame yourself it can be a bitch if you ain't set up to do it. Perfect miters are tough to do. Cutting Plexiglass can be tricky and the ******* static cling of dust and fuzzies will drive you mad.
You may be able to find precut kits or buy the material in bulk online but you will still need to have enough room to work and have to fight with the fuzzies. I would reccomend the anti glare sheet myself, but whatever and however you choose GOOD LUCK!IS IT SUPPOSED TO SMOKE LIKE THAT? -

best place I've found - Ikea. the Reslig poster frames, $20 for a 28x40.
I collect movie posters, and they are larger than most standard frames available at Walmart or Target. most local framing joints want $100-140 for a frame that size.
the Ikea frames are heavy duty, screw-braced metal frames with hardboard backs, plexiglass fronts. very simple, low key appearance.
Flaystus - what's the comic book? I have one nice poster from the Kingdom Come miniseries, an Alex Ross promo that I haven't gotten around to framing and putting up yet.- housepig

I know it's already mentioned, but you can probably find some decent ones at a craft store. They usually have stuff in the $20-$30 range. You may be able to get them cheaper, if you're willing to apply the finish yourself. -
Yeah need to check a craft store. It just feels stupid framing 9 to 20 dollar posters in $30+ frames.
Thats like buying a trophy and running a triathlon for a display case. -
