    That's covered here:

    Bottom of pg6.

Realize this is an UPDATED PDF file, not the HTML.
I've not updated the site's HTML yet.

i've had the so called rings on my discs that weren't like yours where you have skipping in midway through.....my discs were fine and readable after a year.....rings on some of my TY & MAXELL MADE IN JAPAN DVD-R media....and no it's not because any of my dvd burners are crappy......had to say that because i already know others may suggest it...... :P

I had a 50 pc of Vermatim DVD-R MCC01RG20 that had similar rings but they were there before the burn.
All of them have worked fine so far.

  6. What writer is you friend using? I was getting "haloing" effects on mine, using a Pioneer dvr-108. But a quick firmware update fixed that. Make sure he has the latest firmware upgrade.

He has a memorex drive. he took a disk to where he bought it.. "best buy" and they're going to exchange his drive for another one.. because his memorex dvd-rs even have the rings on them... so we believe it's his drive.

I've seen these on disks that are burned at 12x and higher. The first third will burn at 4.3 x the next at 8.something X and the last thirsd at the top speed. Mine have simmilar ring but play well.

The next drive will do it too. That's Z-CLV or maybe even PCAV sometimes.
