Hi there,
I`m having a little problem.... My dvd player plays all my burned dvd-r`s which are 4 speed certified. Nowadays most blanks are 8x certified and the 4x are harder to find which is understandable looking at the increasing speeds of today`s burners.
My problem is that when I burn a movie on a 8x certified disc in my maximum 4xspeed burner, the discs don`t play!!!!
Is anyone familiar with this, or is this caused by another thing maybe?
I`m on the point of buying a new burner (NEC 3520) and hope that the problem will be solved, but maybe someone can point me in the right direction...
greetings,
Qeef.

Three Questions.
1) What brand of Burner are you using?
2) What brand of disc's are you using?
3) What burning software are you using? -
I had a similar problem:
Verbatim DVD-R 8x burnt in Pioneer 105 aren't played by Pioneer DV-444 (it usually plays everything).
But i have access to another 4x burner (Sony DRU500) and if i burn the discs there, the Pio 444 reads them.
I was going to upgrade the firmware, but now i bougth other 8x discs (Datawrite) and they work correctly in the Pio 444.
Hope it helps

Hi you all,
After reading on this forum and testing for many hours I finally figured it out!!
After I authored my mpeg file in DVDAuthor, I used ImgTool classic to convert to a single ISO file. Then burned with DVDdecrypter...and voila!!!
Every disc(dvd-r +r etc) runs perfectly in my standalone player now!!!
What I would like to know now is: How the hell is this possible!!! I mean, I always used Nero to burn my dvd`s and it`s a program a lot of people pay a lot of money for... What does DVD decrypter different then Nero or Stomp`s RecordNow max?
Also what in your opinion is better: create the ISO file with Imgtool or after using DVDAuthor create it with DVDshrink?
Thnx for all your help,
Qeef.
