  1. I am capturing my VHS with a Pinnacle USB Moviebox. The box does well in capturing and converting the video to mpeg2 in real time. However, when I manipulate the video files like editing or burning, then I find there are missing frames in the video files and the output gets out of sync.
If I add a TBC between the VHS and the Moviebox, would it guarantee there will be no missing frame in the captured mpeg2 file?
I hope that TBC thing can do this job well then I am willing to spend the money.

Possibly. Yes, TBC is known to correct frame loss due to source errors.

It is important to determine if the dropped frames are from the VHS source or from the capturing process itself. A TBC will not help you if your capturing hardware is dropping frames during mpeg2 conversion.

I would try capturing a file from the VCR tuner instead of a tape. That way you eliminate any potential dropouts / record gaps from the source. If you are still dropping frames from the VCR tuner, then a TBC will not help.

Thanks for your advice. Normally if I capture from the tuner directly, drop frame is very unlikely. If it occurs, it would be very serious, like dropping 20 out of 30 frames in 2 seconds. I still cannot figure out the reason, but that does not happen often.

But if I capture from VHS, drop frame is very likely and very consistent. I think a TBC would be able to help.
