  1. Hi-

I am getting a DVD player this week and wanted to know how EXACTLY I need to copy DVD's to play back in the DVD player.

I now know that I can not do it unless I have a DVD-RW...

But was told that I can in fact copy one as a XSVCD.Do I need special software to do this. I have NERO now for my CD-RW.

And how do I achieve this.Do I save it to a file on my PC then burn it as a XSVCD? I only have ever burned music and normal files(games, software, etc...). I am new to this DVD copying.

I want to buy one and copy it and give a copy to my brother. We would split the costs. But is the quality noticable consideraly in XSVCD vs. DVD by far??? Is the Sorround quality there as well to????
    Thanks for your help..

  2. You don't need a DVD-rw to copy a DVD. A simple DVD rom works fine, but if you want to shell out hundreds of dollars for a DVD-rw it's your choice. To copy a DVD using a DVD rom look on your left and in the green find "DVD RIP" and you'll find tutorials and needed software links. It's really easy. To convert to any file type look in the green again and you'll find the tutorials and needed software links under "Convert." While your at it, look up you DVD player und "DVD Players" to see what type of discs it will read. I'm not sure if it can get any simpler than that.

Thanks for your help, but low and behold. I do NOT have an internal DVD player for my PC. I only have a CD-RW ion the PC and it will bea normal DVD player next to my VCR in my entertainment system.

I downloaded the NERO update. It instantly converts any video files to MPEG thus A SVCD can be played thru my DVD.
