  1. Just wasted $$ on prodisc and I'm looking for inkjet printable 4x dvd-r discs good for burning movies. The prodiscs burn fine but freeze at various points in pc dvd player and standalone when viewing movies. Thanks for any input.

I've used TY 8x media on my A06, and they burn and play back with no problems. Ordered mine from rima.com. When using printables, burn first, then print.

  4. Yo've sort of answered your own question - the matter isn't so much what writes well on your recorder, it's what plays back well on your DVD player. That's quite a difference.

Have a look for your DVD player in the list to the left for some pointers, then check out the media list to see if anyone has the same player as you and what worked for them. Recording to a disc is only half the story, it's a coaster if it won't play back on your target device.

I have a Sony DVP-535D player which is a fussy bugger when it comes to discs, and a great many discs are rejected. When you find a brand that works for you, stick with it - and don't forget to try burning intermittant discs at a slower speed than rated, as the recording strategy can have an effect on the reliability of the burn, assuming the player can read the data off of the disc in the first place.
