So when finally one get's down to pick a system I kind of got stuck with the Pioneer E95.. until I noticed the the E95 don't support VBR as the E85 does? As well, I noticed that the E95 does not support SVCD, no real biggy there. But curious was Panasonic removed it.
So kind of keeping looking around again.

Well, I checked Panasonic and it says VBR on both models there.... so never mind then.

None of the Panasonics support SVCD though the E50 I used to have would play Infinity 99min discs recorded in SVCD though not right to the end, it always stopped about 40 seconds before the end.

I'm considering a Panasonic E95, and have a few questions for anyone out there with the answers. I've used a Panasonic E85, and like the basic performance of that machine. Am looking for an IR Blaster and PAL playability.
-- Can anyone confirm that the E95 can play PAL discs on an NTSC (US) TV? Does it do the conversion?
-- Is there any difference between the various model letters out there (E95, E95H, E95HEB-S, etc.)?
-- Can it record from a noncopy-protected DVD (e.g., home movies)?
Thanks! -
LiteOn and JVC have some of the better PAL playing abilities, and JVC has the IR blaster. Just for your reference.
