  1. Hello,

What software may I use to split a 24GB file into smaller ones so that I can work with it in my limited space internal hard drive?

    Thanks in advance,
    John

  3. Use SolveigMM AVI Trimmer, it is free, has none AVI size restriction and don't use decoding/encoding approaches, therefore it is very fast.

  6. I should have guessed there was a guide that would tell me what I did wrong. However, I did have one additional snag in my scenario that I didn't count on.

I was using AVISynth2 to "permanently" define a clip from my source and feed that into the various converters for testing each. One of the converters (ProCoder 1.25 trial) wouldn't take a .avs script, so that led me to VirtualDubMod. It turns out that AVISynth2 was also causing a conversion as well as adding extra time (4 times as long) and AVI file size to my clip.

I stopped using the .avs script, set the start/stop time directly in VirtualDubMod, direct stream copy, and saved and now it's fine.

I also have to say that I'm amazed at the response (fast and to the point) on the forums at this site. Many thanks for providing all the help.
