Looks fine... It's USB 2 only, so no Firewire capability. But for DVD burning, that will be OK.

do you know if I could Burn DVD's with it at 8 X or 16 X ?
I read in another post a guy that used one could obly get it to burn at 4X but he also said it might be his media. -
A 16x internal IDE burner could reside happily on a 66Mbps ATA66 bus (if that - might even be 33Mbps ATA33) and USB2.0 is 480Mbps. I can't see how bandwidth would be much of a problem!
That other guy maybe didn't have his BIOS configured correctly. USB2.0 FullSpeed setting is 12Mbps - same as USB1.1 only guaranteed to hit 12Mbps. USB2.0 HiSpeed setting is 480Mbps. Ensure you are using HiSpeed when you plug this in.

is there a way I can set my USB 2 to high speed, or is the a way I can tell if mine is High Speed ?

ok I checked both my computers and they are both High Speed USB 2.0 now what would happen if I tried to use this Enclosure and DVD Writer with a USB 1.1 ?

It would run slowly.

I know it would be slower but does that mean my 16 X DVD burner would still work ?
would it work at the full 16 X speed or would I have to burn DVD's slower ? -
You might be able to do a 1x burn, but the amount of data to be transferred for even a 1x burn would probably be too much for lowly USB1.1 - USB2.0 is your only realistic option.

ok last question, with USB 2.0 would I be able to burn at the full 16X ?
I read somewhere that a CDRW was used in one of these and they tried to use it at 52X and it got alot of bufferunderrun and fixed it by only burning at 32X ? -
I don't know. You can try it. As I say, DVD burners are available to write at 16x on a 66Mbps channel, and USB2.0 is 480Mbps. I suppose latencies might be higher on USB2.0 but I really don't know enough to say.
I would contact the manufacturer and ask them if it is possible.
Let us know how you get on!
