you guys skip over reading posts with good questions in them all the time, and then flock to questions like "do i need a dvd-rom to rip dvds" or "where can i download movies?" or "anyone want to give me some free software?"

    what gives?

that is a good question. i would offer help if i knew much about it... i can tell you this however... im sure ac3 will yield a larger file than usually. is that 2channel ac3 or something? if it's from laserdisc, i would assume it was stereo correct?

What it is that channel one is moneral and channel two is digital information for those who have ac-3 compatible LD players. I have another LK disc with director's commentary on the first channel and the digital info on the second. I have another LD that IS in two channel stereo.

i thought that laserdisc players had a kind of funky ac3/rf output. i've never much messed with them. you would need some sort of capture device though wouldn't you. man i wish i could help ya on that one

I've already read that FAQ. My unit is a bit difficult to upgrade... and I already have to LD players! I don't think I have room or the money for another one! I was lucky to get those so cheap and in good working condition ($10 for the Sony lpd1500 and $25 for the Pioneer V600a)!

Boy... this post sure did change subjects (sorry!)

    i don't mind.

it gets on my nerves though when good questions are overlooked and easy things are ones everyone goes for. i like to help out the newbies too, but c'mon. it's like people think maybe there is a way to read dvds in a cdrom drive....or burn a dvd on a cdr...or doubledensity this and that on your 2year old burner.

    it kills me

    I feel you pain...

But you have to remember... There are some people out there who are not computer geeks (It's hip to be a geek!) I've been there myself! I'm real good on computers but on electronics...? Puh!

  11. If i know it, then i help, but then again, if i think i might know it, i usually just let someone else answer,...
that's why i go for stupid topics,... (some of them are just too stupid for me to go to, though)
but i do understand what you're saying.
    But, oh well....

  12. yeah, i know what you mean too, but at the same time try to remember that if you have a really difficult question, there probably aren't as many people qualified to answer it. lots of people can answer "why can't i read a dvd in my cd-rom"

Back in twenty-aught-one just after the turn of the century, I used to have to walk nineteen miles in the snow uphill both ways to post on Videohelp.

And we had to post via carrier pigeons.

I am still waiting for responses of how to convert an Edison cylinder phonongraph to 8-track.

    Dag nabit.
