Howdy All,
Just thought I'd let you all in on a problem I had and the fix. I tried several times using DVDD and DVDshrink to back up "Without a Paddle" and it failed using both in several different scenarios using a couple different forums looking for answers to no avial. I was just about to return it to the store for another and I had a good look at it and saw a couple paw prints on it. Decided to give it a good soap and water wash and guess what..........put it back in and DVDshrink ripped right through without a single glitch. That's frigging insane, the kids only played the movie a couple times before I tried backing it up and there was only a few fingerprints. "Oh well"......lol. I'm just glad I got the brainwave to give it a bath before I took it back. I guess a lesson learned.......before pointing the finger at the programs trying to decrypt, have a good look at the disc if you're having problems and maybe just give it a wash.
Cheers,
Max![]()

Amazing what a lil dust and fingerprints can do eh?
Usually Shrink will give you a nice lil CRC error in these cases, just
something to watch out for if that should happen.

DVD blank media is extremely fragile, you must handle them with a lot of care. There are many, many people, handling blank media incorrectly, when they get problems they normally say the media is crap without refering to the way the media was handled. Happy to hear you had the common sense approach by cleaning the disc and overcoming the problem without assuming the media was to blame, as so many others do.
