  1. Im trying to convert a DAT file from a standard compliant VCD to Mpeg..... and using the VCD Gear program, but when I try to play the completed Mpeg file under windows I get the error message 'Format not suppoted'...... the file will not load into TMPGenc either.... If I select the option within VCD-Gear to fix mpeg errors and also selected the option to keep the file complete and not split it up, but im only given the first 7 ish minutes of the film and the rest is split-up into loads of tiny Mpeg files.... which will not play (The first 7-ish minutes does however).... anyone got any ideas ?

  2. Well, why not just use Copy and Paste and copy the DAT file, then rename it to MPG ?

  3. If you want a quick way to extract the MPEG use cloncd or VCDEasy to make an image file of the vcd, then use VCDGears raw mode to extract the mpeg. VCDgear didn't have much luck extracting straight from the VCD for me. The reason I suggest this is that just copying in explorer takes a long time (i think the explanation was dou to the lack of error correction and the different sector size.)

  4. Yup, I agree, that is a great idea, you can use any program to make an Image from your VCD, and use VCDGear or IsoBuster to then extract the DAT file, it would be much faster.
