If you want good budget media, PRODISC.
If you're scraping for pennies, LINKYO may be pretty good from reports I've gotten.Want my help? Ask here! (not via PM!)

I've about about 500 of these. Pretty decent stuff. I've had maybe about 2-3 errors on my 200. Hard to say if it was the disc or the burn. After a bad burn, i'd defrag, and the next one was fine. Foor the dvdrs that I have sold, I havent heard of bad burns.

I've heard nothing but bad things about AML's DVD-R...
Their DVD+R I've had very mixed results with...the first 200 I got were *fantastic*. (DVD+R W.I. Printable, Supermediastore) Even burned at 6x with no errors. The next 100 I got were mixed.. One of the spindles had DVD's which actually appeared to have some kind of crusty stuff on the bottom that would scrape away, around the top 20ish I'd guess...But there were still streaky spots on the underside of the media even after washing well etc..and they scratched excessively easy...Some of these still burned/verified okay, others were garbage at 80%ish verified.
I've had this happen before (actually with 4x DVD-R Prodisc)... I'm wondering if it's not related to them being white inkjet printable, and how they're handled..
But anyways...like Smurf says...If you really need to pinch pennies, go with Prodisc... I've only ever had that one bad batch of prodiscs that I mentioned above, so half a spindle of 50, out of thousands purchased.... I'd definately say I'm happy.
I'd really avoid the AML -R though.. They're made in Hong Kong... And if you really want to try some, get the +R.

(Btw - not sure if you care since you linked to the shiney's, but the AML +R W.I. printable have good quality printing surface, however it's odd...it's semi-hub printable...what I mean is that it has a 40mm inner, then a small translucent stacking ring about 4mm wide, then goes back to printable surface up to 20mm again...So using a 20mm inner diameter and you do print on some plastic..but it actually looks pretty good still.):star: :star: :star: :star:

I'll second that on the AML+R media.I usually get them at CompUsa in the CompUsa branded 15 pack of 4x+R.They burn pretty good in my LiteOn 851S.And I haven't had any issues with them playing back in any DVD players also.

AML 001
i have some media that is 4x brand name Platinum series, comes in 25pack. they are great. its not listed in the nomorecoasters.com but i know its good.
A good way to determine a good media is:
once you write to that disc, use that to do a drive to drive copy. i use roxio disc copier. with the crappie media, it will sometimes not even recognize the data on disc, saying it is a blank, or it will have problems reading the disc during the copy. which results in an error and free coaster.
with these platinum series 4x. ive copy over and over w/ no errors.
AML 001 = good sh1t -
I hope you are right Solarflair as I have just been given 25 of these AML 001.000 discs. There does seem to be many users not enjoying the success you are having. I'll report my experience with this media when I have completed a few backups.
