I bought one of these thinking it would play div x in any form - i find it wont play the open source xvid and i'm having to re encode to divx® which rather defeats the object of buying it. Is there a way to make this player play xvid, or alternatively, to re-encode without any loss in quality as winAVI will do the re-encode but to a smaller file of lower quality?
TIA

XviD doesn't come under the umbrella of "DivX in any form". A firmware upgrade could fix it. Otherwise assuming you are talking about avi files, just change the fourCC from XVID to DX50. I would have thought Sony had release a firmware with updated fourCC's though.
