in my NEC 16x -/+ and DL drive they are ACCEPTED and SUCCESSFULLY BURN at 16x !!!! I have burned 9 discs (and let me tell you 6minute burns rocks!!) I have done verification on every one and not a failure yet !!
NewEgg has the drive on sale for Under $70 shipped (I got the silver I assume black and beige are the same drive ?)
Compusa has the discs on sale for $39.99 buy one get one
16x goodness for 40 cents a disc !!!
I am in burn heaven !!!

you can already burn at 16 speed with the pioneer 108 for example.ive tried it with datawrite grey,fuji dye 8 speed discs,a few ritek g05 ones,and some others.its not really that much faster at all though,sometimes 12 speed seems quicker.
