I converted ALOT of stuff over the weekend from avi to mpg with TMPGEnc DVD Source Creator. When I went to play them it lost the sound on all...anyone know why?

    Thanks in advance,

    Venom

What's the audio format in "ALOT of stuff"? Probably something TDSC doesn't support?

If its .AVI and audio is MP3...then its probably variable MP3 and TMPGenc doesn't like that very much. The VBR audio that is...

Save the audio stream (I use virtualdub/virtualdubmod) and convert to WAV. For this I find besweet to work just fine.

Then you can use the .AVI and your video input and use the .WAV and your audion input. Output together, and viola!!!

PS: This question has been asked many many times here. I'd suggest you look at the guides. Very informative. So, please, no questions on TMPGenc, virtualdub or besweet unless your getting an error.

PSS: Consider yourself very lucky this is the response you got. The level of RTFM notifications is absurb....and wickedly hilarious.
    Have a good one,

  6. .wav is not totally dvd compliant, and takes up a lot of room.
I rip audio using virtualdub, then transcode to AC3, 224kbps, 48khz, with ffmpeggui.
Besweet has trouble with compliant AC3 audio, or it used to. Not sure if that's been fixed, but ffmpeggui is much easier to use anyhow
Import your newly created mpeg, that you encoded with NO audio track, and your newly created AC3 audio track into your favourite authoring app.

Here's a guide for extracting the audio with virtualdub:

    If in doubt, Google it.
