  1. I just found this...not sure if you would be interested or not

ASK ANY OF FIREFOX'S avid supporters and they'll tell you it's the fastest browser around, true or not. Well, the INQ's stumbled on a little tweak that's easy to do and sends the browser into overdrive.

All you've got to do is type "about:config" into your address bar, wait for it to load, then alter the following entries: change "network.http.pipelining" to "true", "network.http.proxy.pipelining" to "true" and lastly "network.http.pipelining.maxrequests" to 30, meaning it will be able to make 30 requests at once.

Don't bother if you're one of the unlucky sods still without broadband, but if you are, then give it a shot. I've tried it out and it works like a charm. Thanks to forevergeek.com!

As I Pointed out a while back. This tweek does work, but its kinda rude to use.

Each time it request something it bombards the remote server with 30 connection attempts.

  15. I'd suggest not using this. It's likely contributing to the DOS problem right now. It seems my home IP may have been block and I was using it on that PC for a couple days. Changed it back and now have to see if I can get my IP unblocked.

Could you still use it but limit the number of connections more?

My FF 1.0 had both set to true, only number of max.requests was set to 4, i just incresed it to 10 instead of 30 (i see no point in connecting to 30 at once, not on my slow home connection lol)
But thx for 'hashing old news', coz I missed it previously

What I would really want is to have FF pre-loaded when windows starts, same way as IE is. This would cut down FF initial load to lightning fast instead of them 1-3sec as it is now.

Can't you put in in your "startup" folder???

  19. I'm sure you could still use it and set the connection number lower. Personally I never saw a difference between 4 and 30 anyway. Might just be the sights I was visiting. They load fast either way for me.

  20. I got mine set to 4 now... I only had it set at 8 before anyway.

I dont want it to entirely run at startup.
Take a look at IE - its core components are always loaded with windows at startup, but not the entire program with all of its dependencies/libraries. Thats why when IE starts it looks like it load itself lightning fast (when compared to FF). Thats what I meant.

Basicly he wants a program stub to load at startup. I think Moz has this option but I'm not 100% sure.

  23. My FF has always loaded a lot faster than IE ever has.
