I ran across a stand-alone DVD disc duplicator on eBay. It apparently can copy DVDs and CDs "without software", and without having to be connected to a computer - and it can do it in less than 5 minutes supposedly (a 16x writer).
Now, I know it would not work for backing up my normal collection, but for DVDs that I make out of my own videos and material it would.
So two questions - first, what opinions or experiences do you folks have about/with these things? At a couple hundred dollars, it isn't prohibitive so might be worth getting for the convenience factor.
Second, do they really work that fast? And how is the end product compared to what I can do with my computer?
Thanks for any input folks.

its just a copy -- so the quality is always going to be the same ..
a lot depends on what burner they are using for the quality of the burns though -- same issues with pc burners ..
i dont think you can burn a dvd5 in 5 minutes , no mater what (currently)"Each problem that I solved became a rule which served afterwards to solve other problems." - Rene Descartes (1596-1650)
