  1. Hi ya,

I have a bunch of clips im trying to edit. The clips are in mpg and avi format. They play fine using windows media player, but when I use vegas to import and edit I get problems. Seems like Vegas wont recognize the audio or video on some clips. Im guessing i have the right codecs because they play in windows media player.

I wondering if i damaged them when i cut them using some other program before..can remember what I used.

Anyone have suggestios on how to get vegas to recognize the codecs?

Vegas imports what is "known" to Vegas and uses its own filters. Anything outside of that is incompatible with the application (as designed).

  5. Ok...ill try nerovision...but

I took a VOB file from a dvd and renamed it to MPG. Then I loaded it into vegas and the sound wasnt detected..just the video. Am I doing something wrong??? Vegas must be able to detect sound from that file right??

I use Vegas 4 also. It's funny, Vegas can encode an AC3 file, but it won't be able to import one.

I've found I've had trouble importing Divx and Xvid audio and I use TMPGEnc to output the audio as a WAV file, which also alieviates the snyc issue with some AVI audio.

It's interesting that you just renamed the extension of the VOB file. I didn't know that would work.

  8. almost all nle's will not support loading ac3. They can write it out allright, providing you have the licensed ac3 encoder. Same with mpeg2, its hard to load in files unless they are muxed with mpeg audio streams

  9. Ok.....im still having trouble

I used TMG to split the MPEG into a M2V AND MP2. I loaded the MP2 into Vegas ok..seemed to detect it...But now it wont take the M2V video...

    Frustrated..

Can someone post some other ideas??

  10. i can load multiplexed mpeg2 with mp2 audio into vegas no trouble. As long as your mpeg2 plugin is installed and registered.

don't demux the streams of mplexed mpeg2.
