If you are capturing to avi, then you can select pcm (wav) and not compress. You can also adjust the record volume. What are you going to do with the files?

So in the capture options section, select dvd and either mpeg or lpcm audio. The mpeg audio bit rate is up to you. Try 224. But lpcm is uncompressed and takes up a lot of disk space. If I were you, I'd try another capture program. I never liked ulead for captures.

Pinnacle is no better than ULead VS for capture. VS8 is much improved, you might want to try the demo.

Meanwhile, try to capture LPCM 48KHz 16bit and see if you like the audio any better. If not, the problem is probably your audio card that you are using to capture.

If audio is good, you could give MPeg a try and compare.

Didn't that card come with Winfast PVR? I prefer that over Ulead for capture. But if you want to capture direct to mpeg2, yo might consider windvr. It is a little buggy, but is great for capture to mpeg2. But if you are cpaturing home video, I suspect you want to edit them. If that is true, then use Winfast PVR and capture to avi using the picvideo codec.
