Hi again. Is there any way to tell if it is the Made in Taiwan or Made in Japan Maxells without opening the packaging? I just bought a spindle of -Rs @ futureshop.ca

Yes, the packaging will have country of origin printed on it.

I checked here the first day of the sale and they were from taiwan so i didn't bother buying them. I might go check to see if they have new stock in tomorrow, maybe newer orderes will be from japan.

btw, I'm in Victoria, i wonder if the west coast gets their orders filled from a different place.

I guess i could get energetic and check out the other future shop with 15 mins away.

some cheap ty's would be nice.

god luck with that, I wouldn't of trusted ordering them off the internet. From my experience here on the west coast, all the 100 spindles of maxell's i've seen are the taiwan ones. I kind of just assumed that thats why they put in the 100 packs. Most of the 25 packs i've seen are made in japan, about 50/50 with 50 packs.

of course i'm always looking for -r's. I guess it might be different for +r's.

riteks aren't that bad, but 49.99 isn't an exception price for ritek discs.

In my experience, Maxell 100 packs of 4x media are mostly Taiwan. 100 packs of 8x media are mostly Japan. But again, that's just what I've seen. If ordering off the web sight unseen, I'd be comfortable with buying 8x but not 4x.

I drove around to 5 Future Shops yesterday. Found 1 pack of 4x. Left it there. Found 1 pack of 8x. Bought it.

I haven't seen any 8x maxell media in the future shops out here (I just tried going to the other one, all they had was one spindle of 4x dvd-r taiwan media, the the closer future shop was right out).

Maybe they were trying to get rid of the old 4x media. I'd love to see another sale next month with the 8x media on sale. Maybe it would finally give me a reason to upgrade to a faster burner.

Well, the sale was over as of today but there was lots of spools left at the store here. I guess the weather had something to do with it...15 cm. of snow followed by -40C temperatures. I got the car stuck once today already. I'm not going to try it again to buy anything tonight...

Hi. I emailed the ppl @ websupport for FS, and they said I can return the media if it's unopened @ any FS retail store; so if don't say Japan on the packaging, back it goes.

well since you can do that with future shop, i orderes a spindle as well.. maybe i'll get lucky.

if i get stuck with riteks, its not so bad, they're what i usually use anyways, if they're ty's.. woo!

The Made in Japan 100 spindle I bought were MXL RG03, haven't seen this media before I the MXL RG02 were great disc so I hope this will continue with the new media.

I got a raincheck now so I can take my time and look Made in Japan spindles, I might get some of the MAXELL002 DVD+R next time cause I heard they were great too
