    Hello,
I'm going to buy the new Nero 5.5. I already have Adaptec CD Creator 4 Deluxe installed in my computer. Do I have to uninstall Easy CD Creator 4 Deluxe to install Nero 5.5? Or Can I just install Nero and have two burning softwares in my computer. I'm not sure about this, cause a friend said that i only can have one cd burning software. Or does he mean i can't run two programs at the same time? Could I possibly disable my CD Creator 4, so i don't have to uninstall it. I want to be able to still use my CD Creator 4 once in a while.
    Please Help.
    Rodney

I wouldn't advise trying the two of them. Some people have been able to make them live together but I never could and many people have stated the same problem. I believe it's because EZCD installs it's own ASPI layer and Nero doesn't like it. If I recall, I don't think I even got Nero to work after removing EZCD but it was a while ago so that may not be correct. I know Nero works great on my XP partition and I have EZCD on my Win98 partition on the same PC but no way could I get them both working on the same partition. I have been able to make just about any other burning s/w co-exist (CDRWin, Nero, WinOnCD, CloneCD) with no problems but throw in EZCD and I got trouble.

Personally, I like WinOnCD 3.8PE better for VCD because of the better menus although Nero burns good CD's also. So, if you are going to try Nero, remove EZCD first, and even then you may have problems.

  5. nero has a program in the download section (on neros site) that lets you choose which program you want to boot with.

so when you turn your comp on, you get a dos screen with a menu and is says "what do you want - nero or ezcd ?"... they have it for a couple of different programs

here you go - this is from their site:

Bootmenu for parallel usage of several burnprograms
    Current version: 2.02
    Release date: February 15th, 2001
    Important Additional Information
+ With the help of a bootmenu is it possible to choose between Nero and another CD writer software during the bootup. The startup files will disable the parts of the unused program(s).
    + Nero / autodetect
This program search for all drivers of other
    cd-recording software products and generates
    a bootmenu.
+ Compatibility: The bootmenu works only with Windows 9x
and not with Windows ME or Windows NT/2000

  6. They will work together from what I hear. Just don't install the DirectCD part of EZCD. After you get Nero though, you'll realize that EZCD is crap, and this question will be moot.

The problem is with direct CD, not Easy CD Creator.
If you choose manual install, and unmark "install direct cd", you probably have no problem at all with nero. I have them both, years now... So clone CD
For some audio and simply data storage use, I use EZ CD Creator. I found it easy to use and I know the program 4 years now! For all the other uses, Nero is the way to go! For cd copying, well, clone CD is the best!

  8. why install ezcd without direct cd. you can still have direct cd run on boot, if you use the "boot selector". i have direct cd running when booting to ezcd .. and it gets disabled when i boot in to nero

  10. I have: CloneCD, NTI CD Maker, BlindWrite, FireBurner, Nero, and i've also used to had EZ CD Creator 5.02 Platinum but I uninstalled it, cause it's the crappiest of the crap you can possibly find, not to mention the LARGEST from all of them even put together!

They can all co-exist and work together, and this is from doing it in person, heck, how do you think I wrote the guides in the Burning part ?

They will all exist together. I use Roxio solely for dat cd's and extracting audio. BUT, before you ever boot up Nero, just turn off (ctrl-alt-del to End Task (9x OS) and ctrl-alt-del to bring up your Task Manager (WinNT-2k-XP) the Roxio services from running in the background (ie DirectCD and Creat50 )
