  1. This feels like such a dumb question (but for me they're the ones that are always hard to find the answers to!) but how do I tell what region a DVD is? I burned it with an NEC 2500A (apparently region 2) but when I put it in DVDinfoPro it says "Disc Regions are 1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8."

    Which is it?!

  2. I think that would mean region free.

  3. The regions setting on a burnet like your NEC only refers to play back region restrictions. The region coding when burning is set by the DVD authoring/burning software (if it has the capaibility). Normall this will default to all regions (as appears to the case for you).

this means that it is non-specific and will play in any region (which is classed as region 0)

unless it was originally a specific region you have probably used decrypter or something similar which removes the region protection

AKAIK - the region of your burner is only relevant when playing a DVD
(pleasae some one correct me if this is wrong)

I found that DVDInfoPro does not report the region properly. It reports all burnt discs as region-free, even if they have had a region set on them. I know you ask "Why set the region", but I did some testing a while back with DVDShrink and found that it can custom-set a region(s) for you, and IFOEdit will report it correctly, but DVDInfoPro will not.
    If in doubt, Google it.
