Im trying to make some avi's into mpeg 1's using tmpeg
but how do i calculate the bitrate to use, to fit it onto a cd? or 2 cd's
all i've seen is SVCD calculators, etc... but none for just normal VCD's
any ideas?

"for just normal VCD's" I guess you have to use the standard , 1150 for video and 224 for audio. GOP: 1.4.2
http://www.tecoltd.com has an all-in-one software for mpeg's. It has a calculator and other tools.
