I have a Panasonic E55 that I will be returning. One of the things I don't like is the lack of a zoom function. They also forgot a subtitle button on the remote. Sometimes that comes in handy when watching a movie. You can't always understand what people say.
I looked at the Pioneer and it also has no zoom. Is there a problem with making a recorder that has zoom???

In the US, only Toshiba and Sharp recorders have the zoom function. Toshiba products have the black level issue, and Sharp products are hard to locate. The problem is not technical, probably just cost/benefit analysis for each manufacturer.Originally Posted by Tubescreamer

I have a Sylvania combo unit (vcr/dvr). It has zoom as well as multiple angles. Zoom is on the remote. Angles work by a menu system on-screen.
