I've downloaded the latest IBM Aptiva BIOS from IBM.com but the .exe file doesn't want to run and create a boot disk (I just get a quick flash of the comand prompt).

    bios.zip

I was wondering if anyone else could get it to work?
Here's a link to the files:

    http://www-1.ibm.com/support/docview.wss?uid=psg1MIGR-4JSR6Q&rs=0&cs=utf-8&dc=D400&loc...&lang=en&cc=US

    they are asjt00a.txt & asjt00a.exe

    Thanks for any help.

    It opens for me.

Nothing can stop me now, 'cause I don't care anymore.

Yeah the .exe file won't open for me (the C:\ prompt just flashes and quits still) - I guess I'll use another PC to make the disk.

Any reasons why this might be happening (I downloaded the file several times with bot Firefox and IE cause I thought it might be corrupted)?

    Thanks for the help.

You need to put it on a floppy and set in the bios to boot from floppy.

Try unzipping the file to a specific folder, then running the .exe from a command prompt. That should at least give you a better look at what's going on.

You can't flash it from within windows.

You need to reboot and boot from floppy.

I don't think he's even been able to create the boot disk. I think that's the .exe he's talking about.

He should be able to unzip using winrar or winzip.

I can't speak for him, but I get the feeling he's got the files unzippedand is just having trouble running the .exe which actually creates the boot disk.
