I think it's a good question! If I have an AVI-DivX movie, and I wanna to be sure that this file will be played certainly in my Divx Standalone Player (a Sony DVP-NS765P- a gooooooood player! ), how can I be ensure? Is there some software that control if the DivX movie is correct?
PS: sorry for my BAD english, but I'm European... guy!![]()

You'd have to use somethink like GSpot to find out how the file has been encoded. Then check the manual / web sute for the specs it will play. Most of the problems I have are down to audio (ogg encoded for example).
Another thing to check is that it will play xvid as well as DivX. -
Make sure that you use the DivX Home Theatre Profile. An avi container and mp3 or AC3 audio. Should play fine then.
Seem to recall hearing of a player by Sony that doesn't support the XVID fourCC, so for any chance of playing XviD files, you would need to change the fourCC to DX50/DIVX.
