I think it's a good question! If I have an AVI-DivX movie, and I wanna to be sure that this file will be played certainly in my Divx Standalone Player (a Sony DVP-NS765P - a gooooooood player! ), how can I be ensure? Is there some software that control if the DivX movie is correct?

PS: sorry for my BAD english, but I'm European... guy!

  2. You'd have to use somethink like GSpot to find out how the file has been encoded. Then check the manual / web sute for the specs it will play. Most of the problems I have are down to audio (ogg encoded for example).

Another thing to check is that it will play xvid as well as DivX.

Make sure that you use the DivX Home Theatre Profile. An avi container and mp3 or AC3 audio. Should play fine then.

Seem to recall hearing of a player by Sony that doesn't support the XVID fourCC, so for any chance of playing XviD files, you would need to change the fourCC to DX50/DIVX.
