  1. Hi guys. I have soo many DVDs now in the boxes that it's becoming insane. I would like to store them in a regular folder however I remember reading somewhere that it is not a good idea to put them in a regular case logic folder for CDs because the material may scratch the DVDs because they are more sensitive... Can any1 reccomend a folder that stores about 250 DVDs that is made out of good material so its safe to store the DVDs... Thanks.

This thread might be of interest - a very real and cheap option...
There is some corner of a foreign field that is forever England: Telstra Stadium, Sydney, 22/11/2003.

    Carpe diem.

If you're not living on the edge, you're taking up too much room.

  6. I'm also in the market for a folder to store DVDs.

Conventional DVD cases are too expensive for my tastes and regular jewel cases always get stepped on or damaged in my case. Cake boxes are too ghetto. I'd like an organized catalogue.

I'd really just like a book, but they are bad for the DVD?

Something like this says it's designed for DVDs..."Patented ProSleeve pages and thick padding offer the ultimate in DVD protection."

    Thanks guys.

I've used wallets for my computer CDs for years, and I have discs that are at least a decade old that look as good as new. As has been discussed in other threads, wallets will degrade the disc surface over time because they do come in contact with the media surface.

However, I don't see a problem with using a wallet for DVDs if (and only if) you would be doing this for archival purposes. That is, you stick the disc in the wallet with the intent of never really needing to take it out again. (IE, a backup) In a case like this I can't see there being any significant wear that would damage the disc. Of course the wallet would need to be stored in an appropriate location, but otherwise I think such a use would be acceptable in the circumstances.

For a person who uses their discs regularly, (or even semi regularly) a wallet is just asking for trouble. If a person uses their DVDs regularly, then a DVD case (the black kind) is best. I stay away from jewel cases since they can often put pressure on the hub when removed. Slimline DVD cases can be used if people have space concerns - or you can get a 4 disc multipak case that stores 2 discs inside each half of the case. (with no flap) It really depends on how much use the discs will be getting.

If you really want something that will save space and keep discs safe, then perhaps a carousel is something to consider.

    Regards,

    Savant

Some wallets are too thin too, and bends the media. Be careful of that. I use wallets on things myself, but it's not super-valuable, and I never use them.
