  1. Hey i have a DivX Standalone Player, and i have found out that when i play DivX files with Cbr audio, they become out of sync, but when i try to play DivX or Xvid files with Vbr audio, they are fine. So my question is how do i convert Divx files with Cbr Audio to Vbr Audio.

Thanks in advanced for all the ehlp u guys can provide. This is a really great site.

    lame --preset input_bitrate input.mp3 output.mp3

This will result in an ABR file with the same bitrate (roughly) as the original audio, however VBR tends to have more overhead (at least with avi) so you would probably need to use a lower than original bitrate.

If size isn't an issue then you could use something like -V 3, --alt-preset standard or whatever.

Could also use something like mencoder to re-encode the audio and remux at the same time. Can't remember if the lame acm supports VBR, if it does you could use that to.

No, that is with lame.exe and I don't run linux myself, so why would I expect others to?

What I do expect is someone to be able to take a command like above, modify it to fit their needs and run it from a command prompt. It really is not that hard.

You could use BeSweet if you wanted though, same principle and you are still using lame. Just remember as I said that an avi containing VBR mp3 audio requires more overhead, so even if your new mp3 is the exact same size as the old one, the resulting avi will still be bigger.

VirtualDub is no good for VBR mp3. Use NanDub, VirtualDubMod or AVIMuxGUI. If you go with AVIMuxGUI, load the standalone mp3 profile to be safe.

BeSweet I thought used lame via DLL? Settings depend on how big the audio can be. If size isn't a problem then go with pure VBR encoding, otherwise go with abr.

  8. I have tried, it is in VBR audio, but it crashes my Media Player, and when i burnt it onto a data CD, my player can only play 12 secs of it.

Ok this is wot i have done:
    1. Extract Audio from Virtual Dub, by putting it on FUll Process Mode and Save WAV
    2. Converted with BeSweet from WAV to MP3, with these settings (See attachment)

    3. Multiplexed with AVIMuxGUI, selecting the MP3 and the orginal DivX AVI file, and ticked 'force MP3 steams to VBR'

Can you elebrate on any mistakes i have made.
