hi
i recently downloaded a documentry form the web with avi extension an i want to burn it as a vcd.
when i open a vcd in my computer, i find different folders, and the the main file .dat.
i tried to convert it to vcd but what i got is a single file .mpg.
i'd like you please to tell me if this format is recognised by mini vcd players, otherwise ,what should i do to get the right vcd format and what is the best software for doing that?
thanks a lot.

Ok I'm assuming that you converted the .avi into a vcd compliant mpg file. I use nero to burn my raw mpg file when it loads up choose vcd from the list of formats then just drag and drop your mpg into the compilation. Nero will do the rest for you, (rename the mpg a dat file make the appropriate folder names etc..) pretty straightforward though I'm assuming the minivcd uses the same standard compliance vcd format I've never hear of minivcd though. Anyway hope this was helpful.

If you decide to use Nero to author your VCD, be aware of that Nero doesn't create 100% compatible VCD, at least not when using Neros menu! (This may or may not be the fact, depending on what version of Nero you're using.) As there's no telling what version (if any?) that doesn't have this flaw, I strongly discourage the use of Nero for creating VCD. YMMV
