720x480 is the DVD standard in NTSC countries. It will probably 6000 video bitrate or higher. They all have multiple settings like the old ep/lp/sp modes of vcrs.

    Check the manuals

  3. Sorry should have mentioned it is PAL (I live in UK) the top mode is XP and gets an hour per DVD-R

Will this if I record from my analogue camcorder be at the DVD res PAL of 720 x 576?

In the Sony manual it says: total Pixels 320,000 pixels,Effective Sensor Resolution 290,000 pixels. what does this mean re the recording to the DVD recorder?

    thanks

First how is the quality output of the orignal? You won't improve the picture if the orignal is not so clear.

You have already been given choices for how to capture your stuff from your cam. It's whatever your settings in your DVD Recorder has to offer for PAL environment.

You need to go into the Video - Hardware - DVD Recorder forum with this question. This forum is more for PC CAP cards.

I've got a Pioneer, but I should imagine the recording modes will be similar:
