This is the method I use to rip from DVD: DVDDecryptor -> DVD2AVI -> TMPegEnc -> Nero. I usually convert the file to VCD compliant. I found that the volume of my newly created VCD is less than desirable. It seems the volume somehow was reduced, that I have to turn the volume up on my stereo in order for me to hear people talking. Is there something I can do to the settings to correct the problem? Sure appreciate it if someone could help me.

DVD2AVI> audio >normalization >85-95%, as you like.
TMPG>advanced>audio effect> change volume. Usually normalizing the audio is enough.
