  1. To all Canadians, LG GSA-4120B DL is currently sold at BestBuy.ca for $70 canadian (after mail-in rebate), which is about $57 USD. I don't think you can find it much cheaper. The link is:

    http://www.bestbuy.ca/catalog/proddetail.asp?logon=&langid=EN&dept=20001&sku_id=0926IN...ewdeptid=20232

At the moment, the item status shows 'sold out' but they are getting new stock every now and then, so keep checking for availability. It took me about four days to see the writer back in stock and to ba able to place an order. I got an email from BestBuy that my order has been shipped so I'm expecting to get it in a day or two.

Now if only the price of DL media could go down a bit more, to about $5 CAD. Currently it sits at about $8 CAD (or $6.5 USD).

    Good choose zagortenej !
I'm using it from september and until now I have written about 300 discs.
Only 1 thing : update the firmware to version A111 for a better media compatibility.

  3. Further on LG burners, both Future Shop and BestBuy Canada will have the newer 16x LG 4160b on sale for $69.99 CAD as part of their Boxing Day Sales. Online sale start a day earlier (at 12.01 AM - December 25 - eastern time) so all interested should place an order promptly.

ok, I have a really stupid question:

The LG GSA-4120B - that model number... is that model a duel layer?

I realize that the post thread says this.. heres my situation.
I have a LG GSA-4120B. Bought it almost 6 months ago.

Does this mean that all this time, I've had a Dual layer burner and I was dunced out and did not realize it?

holy crap. I'm blown away. I had no idea. sad thing is, if it werent for this post... I never would have even realized it.

thanks... for inadvertantly helping me out.
and for saving me some cash.
and lastly. for allowing me to be a small fool now, rather than a big one later.

    The link is :http://ca.lgservice.com/jsp/common/download.jsp?DOC_ID=KRSWL000012889&FILE_NAME=KRSWL0...p&FILE_GUBUN=B

If it doesn't work check at your country lg service site :
    http://ca.lgservice.com/

    Good info, also at :
    http://club.cdfreaks.com/lite/f-91

On the web you can find an hacked firmware called A112, it's not official!
I suggest not to try it .

    Merry Xmas !

  9. Don't feel dumb, the cost of the dual-layer blanks would kill you anyway.

When they get cheaper, you'll be ready.
