  1. Hi, im looking for a new, CD player that supports CD-R/W
and has multiple disk support (5 disk min). I recently went to my local future shop to check out some, players and found a SACD player, i am wondering is this player actually worth it, and does it support 5.1 sound so i can use all my speakers. The additional price for a Sony SACD player is about a $100 over a harmon Kardon CD changer with HDCD support, or $250 more than the Sony CDR/W changer (all players are 5 disk). I am interested in listening to multi channel sound. Oh ya there are not that many DVD audio titles that i like so, thats why im lookin at SACD. But please tell about both DVD and SACD audio. Im curious on which to buy?? or should i just go with a normal CD player? thanks.

You may want to purchase a hybrid SACD/DVD-Audio player. I found one on the J&R website, marketed by Apex.

You should note that the majority of SACD titles have NOT been remixed to multichannel sound. They are merely stereo releases in the SACD format. Nearly every DVD-Audio disk I saw at the New York City Times Square Virgin megastore was remixed for 5.1 sound on the Dolby Digital track (unsure about the mix in the DVD-Audio track) -- and there was a ton of them, too (different titles).

Sorry for the delay -- you may have found it on your own: http://www.jandr.com/JRProductPage.process?Merchant_Id=1&Section_Id=1413&Product_Id=19...048&showcase=t

Ironically enough, before this product was available there, the pre-sale price was like $799; now it's listed at $299.
