    Is there any way to add transitions, like fade out and in, between chapters with TMPGEnc DVD Author? It looks pretty much impossible since there is no story board or timeline.

    Hi wwjd,

    Any kind of transition is best done during the editing of the source material before it's encoded to MPEG.

    I'm assuming the source material is decent enough and of a suitable format to do this. I work with DV AVI.
    There is some corner of a foreign field that is forever England: Telstra Stadium, Sydney, 22/11/2003.

    This is AUTHORING SOFTWARE, not an editor.
    If you want to EDIT video, get an EDITING APPLICATION.

    I also saw your comment in the reviews section. If you think $70 for authoring software is unreasonable ... take a look around at the competition. It's exceptionally cheap. For ANY kind of video software. Or software period. Video software is pretty much one of those where you get what you pay for (with few exceptions).

    daamon;

    I usually work with DV avi but I do on occasion have to work with an mpeg file. I am well aware of the difficulty with editing mpegs. TDA makes this process easier and faster and I was just hoping that someone had found a way to do some very basic transitions. I use TDA to manually edit out commercials. Sometimes there is very little fade out when going to a commercial and very little fade in, so it makes for a somewhat abrubt transition. TDA makes the process so simple that this is really not a big deal.

    lordsmurf;

    Actually I bought version 1.5 so it was $57. I have purchased more full featured software for editing/authoring for about the same or less. Not long ago I purchased VS8 for $50 with a mail in rebate. VS8 has its flaws but it is still a very usable application. I really do not need a lecture on getting what you pay for. In my opinion TDA is over priced compared to what I have purchased in the past.

    Hmmm, sounded more like an observation to me.

    Ok ok, lecture is not the right word.

    I was responding negatively to being critiqued for the review I did on TDA.
