  1. OK,I have an ATI 9000 AIW video card, and the Multimedia Centre software has always been a bit buggy, sometimes when i open the TV function,it decides to restart my PC.
Today i decided to upgrade to a later version of MMC,from ATI website, version 9.06.1 i think it was,but i still had the same problem after installing that one.
When i did get it to open,i went to record something,it starts to record, but then goes no further, the elapsed record time does not move and it only records a small file, like 200k in size.
So I went back to the older version of MMC (from the CD,version 7.7.0.4) and it still does it.
I also installed and tried recording with Intervideo WinDVR 3,same problem.I also tried Ulead Movie Factory 3,same problem.
I cant record from anything, even though i am getting the picture on the screen from whatever source i tune into(tuner, composite,Svideo)

It's not like the record button is greyed out or anything,i can actually click on it,and it starts recording, but dosent go any further than that.

I thought maybe i needed to update a driver, but i dont know what to replace it with.My current driver for the AIW is 6.14.10.6462
but i cant find any newer ones on the crappy ATI website.

What could be stopping it from recording?
Any ideas from ATI card users?
    thanks

Sounds like it's trying to record to a location that is full.

  3. Smurf,I actually just tried it again when i got up,after having the PC shut down for the night, and it works ok ,for now at least.
I did have it shut down for a short time yesterday, and it made no difference,so maybe the overnight shutdown did the trick.
    cheers for replying though,
