  1. Are Codecs a situation where the more, the better?

    In the "SatStorm" article:

    SatStorm says, "Huffyuv," is the best.

    No point in having stuff that you will never use.
    In that article huffyuv is mentioned in terms of capturing, as to whether it is best, that is a matter of opinion. It most certainly won't compress the most.

    AFAIK, huffyuv is considered by Satstorm to be the best for capturing because it is a lossless codec. The idea is that if you're capturing to AVI, it is obviously best to get the best quality capture you can possibly get, so that your conversion to MPEG-1/2/4 can then retain this quality as best as possible.

    It really depends on what you are using the codec for as to which is the best for a given situation.
    If in doubt, Google it.
