Are Codecs a situation where the more, the better?

AFAIK, huffyuv is considered by Satstorm to be the best for capturing because it is a lossless codec. The idea is that if you're capturing to AVI, it is obviously best to get the best quality capture you can possibly get, so that your conversion to MPEG-1/2/4 can then retain this quality as best as possible.
It really depends on what you are using the codec for as to which is the best for a given situation.If in doubt, Google it.
