  1. I am trying to convert some XviD material as well as some DivX stuff however these files have a strange issue.

Whatever I do with them the only way I can get them to play normally is through windows media player.

If I use VirtualDub, Tmpgenc, CCE Basic etc, they remain 29.97 fps however they look like 15 fps to me.

This seems to happen only with stuff encoded with recent releases of those codecs.

    Older versions are ok.

What can one do? I looked arround but all I could dig up on google is something with the b-frame problem that can only played right through directshow - wmp in other words.

    Thanks

OK, first off STOP using WMP....there are FAR better media players than this.

Install Zoomplayer (or MPC or Core) for playing avi's and install the LATEST VERSION of FFDSHOW or just use VLC.

    Install GSPOT.

    Install the LATEST XVID codec.

TMPG uses directshow filters (a la FFDSHOW) and VirtualDub requires the full codec (a la the full XVID CODEC) to decode the .avi.

Pre version1 XVID codecs or filters struggle playing avi's encoded with POST version1.

  3. Ok thanks.

Just a note: wmp is not the problem. I use 6.4 version and it's definitely best for the job for me.

WMP6.4 was a nice light player (unlike later versions)..have you tried MPC Media Player Classic?..as its based on 6.4?

Zoomplayer is still VERY MUCH worth getting though (hint)......try it.

  5. I think I heard something about that Media Player Classic with some enhancement stuff such as to enable realplayer files and so forth.

Ok, I'll give a go to the zoom player, which I think I tried looong time ago.

Obviously it didn't impress me the first time.

Thanks for help. Now I am getting some invalid pointer operation and error write occured message.

    Sigh
