  1. Hello all this is my first post here but I have been on the boards for a couple of years and just want to first of all thank all of you for your comments and experiences with media and players etc. It really helps with buying stuff and what to expect. Ok my question is I am looking to buy some more media and so far for the last year I have been using Ritek Ridata G04 matt finish dvd-r on my panasonic dmr e20 and lately my panasonic dmr e55 for making dvd's from my vhs tapes. But I have seen that dvd media prices might be going up soon and I was wanting to get what I need to finish what I am wanting to make for my collection and I was wondering what should I get. I use a Pioneere A05 for burning copies on my computer and the ritek has been excellent for me but I have read so much about quality being bad and I guess I am lucky to have gotten some good batches of the G04. I am thinking of Taiyo Yuden 8X DVD-R Media silver thermal printable discs but I have never used them and have read good stuff about them. I was also looking at prodisc dvd-r media but I have read mixed results with it as well. Has anyone used both Ty and Prodisc media on a panasonic dmr e55 with good results and also on standalone players? Any help from people that have the same setup like I have or close to it and have used these medias on there Panasonic dvd recorders would help me out. I am looking to buy around 200 discs. Thanks for any help.

We have a Panasonic DMR-E50 which is almost identical to your E55 and probably uses the same burning hardware. We did the media dance already trying to find reliable media.

Result: Taiyo Yuden TYG01(4X) or TYG02(8X) has been flawless in both the E50 and the Pioneer 107 PC writer. There is no better, IMO, and I've tried all sorts of "economy" media. There's a reason why it costs a little more

  3. Hello capmaster thanks for your help I appreciate it a lot I have been looking for different results with different media and Ritek has done ok for me but I am worried about getting a bad batch and sending it back and paying for shipping etc. I guess I will go with getting some Ty media then and hope that they all will work.

Since we have similar hardware, I think you'll be pleased with TY media

www.nomorecoasters.com and pick something from the 1ST class area, maybe PRODISC from 2nd class to save some bucks (and quality is nearing that of 1ST class).

  6. Hello to all and thanks for the advice I have just bought a 200 pack of Taiyo Yuden 8x dvd-r silver thermal from supermediastore.com and its on the way so I sure hope they give me good results I got them since they are about the same price as Ritek anyways but are just a few cents more but not much. I was looking at prodisc and wanted to get some but after reading some people saying they got one batch that was good and then the next was bad it kind of spooked me a little bit and that was why I was a little weary about getting Ritek again. I was lucky that the last few batches of Ritek was good ones and have worked excellent for me.
