Actually it's coming in at about 1500 to 1800, try this tool if you haven't optimized. Gave me a decent speed boost.

Hello,
Sorry coalman - I already posted that on one of my dsl threads I started so someone probably already saw this "phenomenon"

Guess that would actually be how fast your computer refreshes the page, I hit the back button myself. I had one that was 54,000 but couldn't get it that high again.

:P
Edit: now that I ran a few tests at different places I can say that optimizer dramatically incresed my speed. For the most part I was getting around 1 megabit before and now it's hittin around 3 megabits consistently which is the max my connection is supposed to be.
Edit 2: Yep it's absolutley screaming now...... Tested about 5 or 6 places all around 2800-3000. Even got a 2300 from a UK site. -
Hello,
Optimizer??????Originally Posted by coalman

Apparently XP is not optimized for high speed connections....

Makew sure you go to file>backup current settings before you run it.
Pick your connection from the top, select optimal settings on the bottom then hit apply....reboot.
Yoda run a few speed tests first then let me know, I didn't run a whole bunch of them before I used it. -

Optimizer works for dial-up too.... maybe you could get another 5 or 6 Kbps out of it.Originally Posted by northcat_8
I feel for you Northcat, I was stuck using dial-up for 7 years.... Even had to revert to it for a day a few months back, that was like returning to the dark ages. :P -
Hello,
Well here's my jump up:
AFTER:
HA! 10kbps??? Not much of a jump. And I can't even be sure that isn't just normal net congestion differences.
Oh well, maybe I'll fool around with the settings this week...

GuestGuestwhat does this mean.My wireless cable is faster than a t1 line?2301.2 Kbps - You 2301.2 kbps
2995.6 Kbps - You 2995.6 kbps
second attempt -
Means your sitting pretty just like me, that's about what mine is coming in at... That's just your download speed though, try this one it will give both upload and download: http://www.dslreports.com/stest Guess 3 Kbps download is pretty common for cable, it's the upload speeds where you really pay through the nose, my upload speed is always around 250kbps the advetised speed.Originally Posted by Dr.Gee
Well what does your ISP advertise as there line speed, might just be you can't make it faster. Mine improved signifigantly. Like I said most tests were coming in around 1000 or above, now it's 2500 or better.Originally Posted by yoda313 -
Yeah! Would you? I'm stuck here with a low band dsl connection. 128 Kbs, which translates to 14 kbs download speeds.Wanna trade?
BTW, Nice hat Cap! Its very festive!

Screaming download bandwidth is real nice and all, but what kind of upload speed do you have?

To further elaborate on this in my area the cable I currently have only has a slightly better plan 4000/512 for an additional $5.00 per month. Phone company offers DSL for 1500/384 a slight improvement in upload but half the download width for the same price as basic cable plan or 1500/768 for $250 per monthOriginally Posted by thecoalman
. The other phone company offers 7000/768 for $240.....
Edit: shit I edited instead of....
