Am I the only one outraged at the sometimes horrible packaging of dvds these days. I do like the new cardboard special edition cases, but not when the glue is smeared on the back to hold the plastic dvd cradles down, or when the plastic is just plain falling off. Or plastic security stickers behind that plastic or on the cardboard where your two choices are security tag or ripped paper. Another favourite is the barcode that I'm assuming stores put on the back, they are impossible to remove completely. Typically the three security stickers come off pretty easily but not when the inlay boxart is sticking out past the plastic shield so the top of the front cover is ripped up when you pull the sticker off. Who are they trying to keep out of these things. I'd assume that if the plastic wrapping is off and the disc is missing that someone's tampered with it, why am I paying $20-$30 for all this sticker removal work. I just got a copy of The Abyss Special Edition, 2 disc set, pretty nice package, it was the cardboard custom case, so what did some big wig studio exec retard do, sticks on the back info card with super glue to the cardboard case, I can't put that on my shelf now, the previous dvd will stick to it and I'm not letting that happen to 2001: A Space Odyssey. Speaking of which, I'm glad they stopped using those plastic/cardboard snap cases as much, I didn't particularily mind them, but they don't come close to the typical amaray plastic cases; much more durable and you can replace them if they get mucked up.
Anybody else have these problems or am I the only one.

Usually the glue seems to come right off for me when removing the promotional page from the cardboard boxes. Its that putty like glue that doesn't stick that much. What I can't stand are those black rectangular stickers. I guess they are what set off the alarms if not demagnitized or something. Those things are hard as hell to get off and I have cut myself more then once trying. Other then that I noticed that, while the metal foil cases look cool, the foil tends to rub off pretty easily.
