When i play CD`s and DVD`s in my DVD rom the sound skips, the video is perfect just the sound thats not right, i can burn CD`s ok and (i have a CD RW) it just seems to be when playing audio on the DVD rom that it skips. I have used the DVD rom and saved music onto my HD and it plays from the HD ok. Could someone offer some assistance, please be gentle with me as i stay in a village (im not the idiot but i AM related)Thanks in advance.

Very interesting. I always get kicked by such problems.
See if I get it right. You must be having a wire which connects your DVD ROM directly to your soundcard. So while playing the movie or normal audio CD, the DVD ROM send sound signals directly to the soundcard for playback. But while coping the music files, it is sent to HD via IDE cable. So there is has to be something with your soundcard.
Update the driver for your soundcard and share the result.
Cheers mate
