I'm sure some 16x DVD-R is good, like TTH02, but I seriously doubt anything from Optodisc is...

I don't know about those, but I recently bought some Verbatim 16x +R media to try 16x burning. They burn at a maximum speed of 12x, which is the same as the Verbatim 8x media (also burns at 12x). I have a Pioneer 108 with 1.14 firmware.

I'm hoping a future firmware update will allow 16x burning on the Verbatim 16x disks.

Burning at 16X is basically a hype because the disc reaches that speed only at the very end of the burn. You get even 12X only after 2GB. Get a stopwatch and check the overall burning time. This way you'll get more accurate figure of the average burn speed.

    Enjoy!

The LG GSA-4120B burns at 16x P-CAV so it reaches 16x before the end of the burn. It might actually be around the 2.5GB area or so, I can't recall.

It would depend on how well your burner can burn the discs.

Since I'm assuming you have a 16x burner, these Optodiscs should give an ok result at 16x, but probably better at 8x or 12x. Pioneer and NEC shouldn't have a quality problem with the discs. Both can burn the 4x Optodiscs at 8x (using the right firmware) with little to no problems.

You can get 8x TY's for about the same price, I'd go that route myself.

    He meant the GSA-4163B.

I doubt there are many writers supporting these Optodiscs @16x, unless Optodisc is using fake id's again...

16x DVD-R is news to me.

I don't understand why three minutes is more important to people than the quality and reliability of their burns.
