    The glossary definition of "quantisation" appears to require a PhD to understand. Could someone explain it for the rest of us?

    It is the algebra/calculus/math used to compress data in MPEG format. It both compresses and ensures quality is maintained in the process.

    It simply means that you able to split something into discreet parts.

    So, for example, a yard can be split, or quantised, into 3 feet, or 36 inches.

    If you are talking about quatum theory..........I do believe one of the mods is a nuclear scientist
