whats the difference between a pentium 2.5ghz and a celeron 2.53ghz?

will there be a big differnece in performance?

Also, I have a Pentium4 1.60 ghz right now. If I buy a new tower with the celeron, would it be faster than my pentium 1.60? Are there problems with celerons? any info would great.....thanx

2.5GHz has 400MHz FSB vs 533MHz FSB for the 2.53GHz. The 2.53 should be faster out of the box, but you'll probably have an easier time overclocking the 2.5 if that's what you're interested in. Also, the 2.4 will only require PC1600 vs PC2100 for the 2.53. As far as the Celeron being faster, it depends on what speed Celeron, and also what you plan on doing with it. For some things you won't see a big difference between a P4 and Celeron at the same speed, for things like encoding you probably will.

IIRC Celerons don't have all the instructions that P4s do either. Given a choice between the two at the same cost I'd go with the P4.

? What do you mean by instructions? This comp won't be used for any type of video programs/editing. Mainly MS Office/Internet/cd burning/digital photos...
