    It's the logical next step.

In the early 20th century telephines were considered a luxury here, and in many third-world countries they are. But now we have them everywhere ...no matter how poor you are chances are you can afford a phone.

The internet has become the modern-day telephone - it's used for everything you can think of, and many of us, especially myself, panic when we don't have an internet connection at home. Much like we would if the phone service went out.

Bravo to the forward-looking pioneers in Philadelphia ...and I hope it becomes a trend real soon since Albuquerque is usually the last to get the good stuff (last with 56K, last with DSL, last with cable modem).

    Hello,

Hey Cap, ever heard the Weird Al Yankovic song "Albquerque"? It's hilarious. --It's not an insult to the city, it's just a 10min song ramblin about every weird thing under the sun.

The Mayor of Philly, John Street, is starting to lay off a lot of city workers to make up for a budget short fall.... I hope there is not $1.00 of taxes being used to fund this when they could use it to save a job or two. Just my 2.5 cents.

    Hello,

    Oh, didn't know.

Yeah hopefully this is some kind of grant money that can ONLY be used for this endeavor.
