I just got a pvr as a gift and I love the thing ,so my question is how can I record movies from my dishnetwork pvr to a dvd burner. i have 2 lite on burners in my computer and I was wondering if what I asked is possible while keeping the 5.1 sound on the recording.![]()

I don't know. However, the only way to get 5.1 sound from your pvr is via the optical or coaxial digital output. This means you need to have an optical or coaxial digital audio input card on your computer to receive this signal. I don't have one so I don't know what software accompanies that device which could save it as a file. Then, somehow, you need to get it muxed with the video track and burned to a DVD.

Currently no stand alone dvd recorder offer a digital audio input to record 5.1 sound. Philips is promising a model with one to come out very soon. Do a search on it in the forum and you'll find it.

Philips has been promising a model like this forever and it's nothing but vaporware at this point. Legality issues with the MPAA etc. is the more likely cause for this features delayed introduction than any technical limitation.
What exactly is rotten in Denmark?
