  1. I work at a casting facility and I want to be able to post full sessions on the web. without taking to much time. Is there a capture card that I can buy that will give save files to a folder that I can then transfer over to web server at the end of the day? I would need seperate files for each person or group I saw during the day. The best would be if I could have a thumbnail of them, and then a link to the file in either QT or WM.

Currently I take a finished session on DVD and Capture it into a MAC. Then I break it up by group and or clip that I want, and then I send it to compressor to be converted and then I copy it over to the PC web server. From there I then open the files in a a program called River Cleaner. Which converts the QT files (encoded with mpeg4, but have a mov extension) into wmv files. Once this is complete I then create all the links in dreamweaver. I want to be able to combine some steps. like at the end of a day not have to recapture or convert the files, but be able to just transfer them to the server without have to create a second file as well. Anyone have any ideas? I would love to hear you input on this.

I am trying to build systems for each room, but I want speed and reliability and for less than 4k a room. I have 10 rooms... Let me know.

you could use procoder and the watch folder -- this can be set up to create both the thumbnail and full in the same pass ..

as soon a file is dropped into the watch folder , it is automatically encoded, seq,. named and dumped into another folder ..

as for hardware solutions , osprey has a system like that .. you may want to contact viewcast .. http://www.viewcast.com

Or you could get one of those Sony or JVC $$$ ProCams that can record straight to streaming MPEG4...

Seriously, what format are you thinking of? MPEG1 (I've used Broadway or Canopus)?, MPEG2 (I've used many, incl. Canopus)?, MPEG4?, WMV?, Real? DV?, AVI?, Quicktime??

  4. Currently I am encoding in Compressor from Final cut to Mpeg 4 the I convert it with video cleaner from river past into wmv.

I would like these formats because I like the size and quality of the files. If there are other opinions I would love to hear them.
